General Info

Carolicious Venezuelan Food at 14 Tyler St, Somerville, MA 02143 brings the authentic taste of Venezuela right into the heart of the Boston area. This woman-owned restaurant has quickly become a go-to spot for those craving hearty, flavorful, and comforting dishes that celebrate Venezuelan traditions. The specialty here is the arepa, a cornmeal-based sandwich that can be filled with a wide range of savory ingredients. Options like shredded chicken paired with black beans and creamy sauce, or spiced beef with cheese, deliver a perfect balance of flavor, texture, and satisfaction. Each bite feels homemade yet elevated, offering both comfort and excitement.

Beyond the arepas, the menu extends into bowls and classic Venezuelan bites like tequeños, which are cheese-filled pastries that pair beautifully with dipping sauces. The Pabellón bowl, featuring pork, rice, beans, and plantains, is both generous in portion and rich in flavor, making it a great value. The pork with pico de gallo arepa brings a refreshing zest, while the beef and cheese option leans into salty, savory indulgence. For those unfamiliar with Venezuelan cuisine, the arepa experience is both fun and approachable—like a cross between a sandwich and taco, but distinctly unique.

Carolicious is more than just food; it’s about atmosphere and community. Tucked away in Somerville, the restaurant feels like a hidden gem worth discovering. Its laid-back, artistic courtyard provides a relaxed backdrop perfect for sharing a meal with friends or enjoying a casual date. The ambiance is welcoming, making the vibrant flavors shine even more. What customers say?

“ Definitely somewhere we’ll be going again. Generous portions of meat in the erapas and the bowls were very filling. Would recommend the Rumbara and Reina Pepeada ”

“ Carolicious is a woman-owned restaurant serving the most delicious Venezuelan food in Boston! Their service is exceptional and the food is even better. From the arepas to the bowls and tequeños, everything they serve is absolutely delicious. With several locations across Boston, I highly recommend giving them a try. You won’t regret it! ”

“ This amazing hole-in-the-wall has been one of the highlights of restaurants we have tried in the Cambridge, MA area; from their fun, savory handheld arepas to their hearty bowls. We heard about this restaurant by word of mouth, and I can see why. This restaurant is tucked away in a corner of the town and down an obscure road that no one would find. This unexpected hidden gem is well worth your time! We ordered the Pelua (spiced beef + cheese) and Pork + Pico de Gallo Arepas as well as the Pork Pabellon bowl. The Arepas were fantastic! The beef + cheese arepa satisfied those salty/meaty/cheesy cravings while the pork + pico de gallo was more refreshing. We loved both of them so much. For people who don’t know what an arepa is, it is like a taco sandwich (analogies won’t do this description justice, just try it). With either pork or beef sandwiched between a cornmeal “bun”, the arepa is a fantastic and fun dish that I think people will enjoy! The bowl was a surprisingly large amount of food for the price, certainly a great deal for all the ingredients included, and had all the same flavors as the arepas. While it was also excellent, we definitely preferred the arepas and will order more of them in the future. We loved the artistic and relaxed vibe of the courtyard and will certainly return in the future. It is an excellent place to visit with friends and family or on a date! This place is a hidden restaurant wonder and we highly recommend it!! ”

“ Ridiculously tasty with great flavor and texture combination, between $7-$11 for a decent amount of food ($7 arepa won't fill you up). They have ample indoor and outdoor seating with bars next to it if you want to have a drink with it. Service is also pretty quick. I got the pabellon (national dish of Venezuela) chicken, which was pulled chicken with incredible flavor, black beans and fried plantains, both pairing really well with the chicken. Definitely recommend it strongly. ”

“ Tried this Venezuelan arepa and what a comforting, flavorful bite. The shredded chicken was perfectly seasoned, the black beans added heartiness, and that creamy sauce brought it all together. Plus, the warm, laid-back atmosphere made it even better. This place is definitely a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Venezuelan comfort food. ”

“ Place is within the brewery, once you enter take a sharp left and then another left, you’ll see the food court area. Carolicious would be the first stand on the right. Plenty of seating, don’t know how busy it gets as it was fairly empty when I went and found seating. Food was pretty good, it’s what you would expect when it comes to Venezuelan, had the pork and beef bowls, definitely the pork stands out as it peers perfectly with the plantains, black beans and rice. Was really expecting more as I’ve been searching for a Venezuelan place that would have more variety. Price was I would say it’s a bit expensive, not much, but you do get bigger bowls at many other places for the same price. ”
